Earlier, the protestors held a protest program in front of Prothom Alo last Thursday (November 21) under the same banner. The next day, Friday (November 22), a protest was held in front of the Daily Star newspaper’s headquarters. Later from there it was announced to slaughter the cows in front of the offices of the two newspapers.
The participants in the program are teachers and students of various Islamic institutes. Their claim is that they are carrying out this program in protest against Indian aggression. The protestors claimed that Daily Star and Prothom Alo newspaper are playing a direct role in helping Indian aggression in the two countries and creating Shahbagi Bayan. The participants claim that Daily Star and Prothom Alo work as a tool to turn devout Muslims of Bangladesh into militants.
On the surface, in front of Prothom Alo, teachers and students of various madrasas and Islamic institutes are holding a protest rally on the road in front of Prothom Alo’s office. Their banner reads ‘Prothom-alo to Resist Indian Aggression – Daily Star’s Ziafat, First Cow Jabeh’. Besides, the protesters are chanting slogans with placards containing various anti-aggression slogans. They slaughtered a cow in front of the office around 12:30 pm. Cooking is being organized there. Hundreds of people gathered there to watch such a program.
Meanwhile, when a large number of police, RAB and army personnel were deployed around the cow slaughter program, the group clashed with them later in the evening. At this time, the police fired multiple TR cells and blank bullets to disperse themAt one point, the police arrested some people and took them away.
