Yesterday, almost all the media in Bangladesh reported the news of the bombing in the Bilashpur area of Jajira Upazila in Shariatpur. At that time, the bombing seemed like a battlefield. Seeing this, the current government’s administration was in a panic. Members of all law enforcement agencies, including the Joint Brigade, entered the field to maintain law and order. At night, the current chairman of Bilashpur Union, Quddus Bepari, who is the main suspect in the case given by the police, was arrested from the Shajahanpur area of Dhaka. Members of the law enforcement agencies arrested 6 more people from different places in Bilashpur. The presence of the law enforcement agencies was noticeable throughout the day to control the situation.
One of them is a motorcycle rider, who earns a living by riding motorcycles, named Malek Chowkidar. His family claims that he is innocent. The truth of this news is also found. In this regard, it is known from Jajira Police Station that the DB arrested him and handed him over to the police station. And this operation is being carried out to maintain law and order. If not a criminal, he will be released on bail.
All the people of the upazila complain that there was a hereditary tradition of fighting in the areas of Mulna, Joynagar, Barkandi, Kunderchar, Palechar, Purba Naodoba, Gopalpur. Which at one stage was almost coming to an end with the increase of generations. But in Bilashpur union today, for 25 years, it has been going on again due to the likes of Kuddus Bepari, Jalil Madbar, Salek Madbar, Salauddin Mastar, for ages. So far, more than 10 murders have been committed. Bombs worth over 6-7 crores of taka have been exploded, goods and houses worth several crores of taka have been burnt. Naturally, the question arises, for what purpose, for what benefit is this brutal fighting being done?
In this regard, when talking to Upazila Nirbahi Officer(UNO) Kaberi Roy of Jajira Upazila, he said that “this display of muscle power is to maintain dominance in the area and party influence”.
Jajira Police Station OC Dulal Akand shared the same information.
Talking to the common people, several other economic and political reasons have been revealed. We all know that most families in Bangladesh live on the income of the headman, which is why the villagers are interested in earning money with little effort. It is only possible to earn money quickly through illegal means.
The information that was revealed in economic terms;
1/ To buy and sell someone’s land in the area, you have to take the help of influential people, which brings a profit.
2/ When building a new house, you need the help of influential people to fill the land and build the house, which benefits the work.
3/ There is an issue of human trafficking. In simple terms, sending workers abroad illegally.
4/Selling soil in the dark of night from government canals and private land in the area.
5/Selling sand from the river through carts.
6/Extortion in the area.
7/Controlling the drug trade.
8/To get tender work and to receive profit from the work done.
To do all these things, it is necessary to create muscle power and fear in the area. And when people are afraid, they will do whatever they are told, they will vote for whoever they are told to vote for.
When the government’s background changed in the August 5 movement, a vacuum of political power was created in the offices in Jajira. Government officials are afraid of Mob Justice. A special group is working to expand their influence in this opportunity. They are working to take control of these from the upazila. That is why, at this time, when the leaders of the Awami League are either arrested or absconding, no one will show such courage at this time, claim the peaceful people of the area. The people of the special party are creating new businesses and syndicates in every area, and many claim that the people of the special party are greedy for money and power among the people who have come to the villages for Eid, and they are starting fights in the areas of Kaziarchar, Durba Danga, Bilashpur, Palerchar.
The people of the area are trusting only in the operations of the Bangladesh Army to get rid of such evil activities.
