The Chief Advisor Prof Dr Muhammad Yunus,called for initiative to make the upcoming international conference successful on the Rohingya crisis. The chief adviser made the call when the UN Refugee Agency, Philippo Grandi, head of the state guest building, went to Jamuna on Thursday (February 26th)
The chief adviser said, ‘Let’s make this success and solve the problem. Hopefully some solutions will come out of this conference.
The chief adviser called for decades to bring back the humanitarian catastrophe to the world map and to provide further assistance for minorities in Myanmar for the long time.
He said that a path should be created for the subject matter. We need to make sure that the future of their (Rohingya people) will be ensured. ‘
Philippo Grandy, UN Refugee Affairs Commissioner Philippo Grandy, supported the international conference organized by the United Nations later this year.
He said, ‘Come on, we put this topic on the map. This is a great time to bring the UN Conference to the Rohingya crisis again at the negotiating table. This is very important to create confidence in different groups of Rakhine. ‘
Commenting on ‘We are delighted to work with you’, he expects UN Secretary -General Antonio Guterres to visit Bangladesh in mid -March.
Philippo Grandy also hoped that the Rohingya repatriation would also come out through the Secretary General’s visit.
During the meeting, both of them emphasized the way to collect more financial support for millions of Rohingya refugees living in the Rohingya camp in Bangladesh, in an increasing uncertainty over the new direction of US foreign policy.
Khalilur Rahman, the chief adviser of the Rohingya crisis and priority, was present at the meeting.
