Additional Superintendent of Police (Additional SP) Alep Uddin is no longer traceable after he was transferred as Detective Police (DB) from his post in Barisal. He was picked up from the office of the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Barisal Range of Police at around two o’clock on Tuesday. The family said that even after 32 hours of writing this report at 10 pm, they have not been able to find him.
However, if someone is detained or arrested there is a legal obligation to appear in court within 24 hours. And the High Court has directed to inform the family about the reason of detention or arrest and where he is kept. However, even after more than a day, Alep Uddin’s family is worried.
Alep Uddin’s wife Wafa Nusrat told the Guardian around 10 pm on Wednesday that while Alep Uddin was being picked up on Tuesday afternoon, he called his wife and told her that the Barisal DB had picked him up. According to him, there is no case against Alep Uddin. But why he was taken away, where he was kept, they do not know anything about it. Already more than 24 hours have passed, now the whole family is worried.
When asked about this, Barisal District Police Superintendent Md. Belayet Hossain told the Guardian on Wednesday night that there was no incident of Alep Uddin being picked up. He was summoned to DB office in Dhaka by senior officials. Senior police officers of Dhaka can say about this.
Later, when asked about this at 9:25 PM, the spokesperson of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Media and Public Relations Department, Muhammad Talebur Rahman told the Guardian that he has no information in this regard. He can’t say anything about it.
Alep Uddin’s wife Wafa Nusrat said, Alep Uddin is the 31st BCS officer of the police. He was attached to the Barisal range. He was working in the Special Branch (SB) of the police during the student agitation. There was no operational or field duty officer. So they are worried about whether someone is trying to frame him or not.
