Students protest in Lakshmipur demanding withdrawal of reinstatement order of headmaster

The students staged a human chain and protested to demand cancellation of the order to reinstate the expelled Saif Uddin as headmaster of Nurulyapur Anjaman Ara High School in Laxmipur accused of money embezzlement and drug use.

On Sunday (October 20), former and current students of the school held an hour-long demonstration in Charshahi area of ​​Sadar Upazila.

At that time, the students took out a protest march from the school premises demanding the cancellation of the reinstatement order of drug addict Saif Uddin. The procession went around different roads and ended at the school premises.

Students complain that the former headmaster of the school Saif Uddin is a drug addict. The video of him taking drugs also went viral on social media. It is alleged that the school embezzled 17.5 lakhs during the time he was in charge of the head teacher.

On March 4, 2018, the managing committee of the school filed a case against Saif Uddin in the judge’s court in Lakshmipur, alleging various irregularities including misappropriation of school money. He got bail after a month of imprisonment in that case. Earlier, the management council of the school appealed to the appeal and arbitration board Comilla for the final dismissal of Saiful Islam from the post of head teacher due to irregularities. However, at that time he himself voluntarily submitted his resignation letter.

On January 13, 2022, the Appeal and Arbitration Board ordered the final dismissal of Saif Uddin from the post of head teacher. But when Saif Uddin filed a writ petition in the High Court against the expulsion order of the Arbitration Board on January 25 of that year, the High Court ordered the suspension of the expulsion order. Based on that order, the Comilla Education Board ordered to reinstate him as head teacher.

The angry students said that the former head teacher is a drug addict. Moreover, he embezzled the school’s money. Will students learn from such a teacher? It will deteriorate the school more than it will improve it. Therefore, the students demanded immediate withdrawal of the reinstatement order of drug addict Saif Uddin. Otherwise they warned of strict agitation including class boycott

লক্ষ্মীপুরে প্রধান শিক্ষকের পুনর্বহাল আদেশ প্রত্যাহারের দাবিতে শিক্ষার্থীদের বিক্ষোভ

অর্থ আত্মসাত ও মাদক সেবনের দায়ে অভিযুক্ত বহিষ্কৃত সাইফ উদ্দিনকে লক্ষ্মীপুরের নুরুল্যাপুর আঞ্জমান আরা উচ্চ বিদ্যালয়ে প্রধান শিক্ষক পদে পুনর্বহাল আদেশ বাতিলের দাবিতে মানববন্ধন ও বিক্ষোভ করেছে শিক্ষার্থীরা।

রোববার (২০ অক্টোবর) দুপুরে সদর উপজেলার চরশাহী এলাকায় ঘণ্টাব্যাপী এ বিক্ষোভ কর্মসূচি পালন করে বিদ্যালয়ের প্রাক্তন ও বর্তমান শিক্ষার্থীরা।

এ সময় শিক্ষার্থীরা বিদ্যালয় প্রাঙ্গণ থেকে মাদকাসক্ত সাইফ উদ্দিনের পুনর্বহাল আদেশ বাতিলের দাবিতে বিক্ষোভ মিছিল বের করে। মিছিলটি বিভিন্ন সড়ক প্রদক্ষিণ করে পুনরায় বিদ্যালয় প্রাঙ্গণে এসে শেষ হয়।

শিক্ষার্থীদের অভিযোগ, বিদ্যালয়ের সাবেক প্রধান শিক্ষক সাইফ উদ্দিন একজন মাদকাসক্ত। তার মাদক সেবনের ভিডিও সামাজিক যোগাযোগ মাধ্যমে ভাইরালও হয়। তিনি প্রধান শিক্ষকের দায়িত্বে থাকাকালীন সময়ে বিদ্যালয়ের সাড়ে ১৭ লাখটাকা আত্মসাত করার অভিযোগ রয়েছে।

২০১৮ সালের ৪ মার্চ বিদ্যালয়ের অর্থ আত্মসাতসহ বিভিন্ন অনিয়মের অভিযোগে সাইফ উদ্দিনের বিরুদ্ধে লক্ষ্মীপুরে জজ আদালতে মামলা করেন বিদ্যালয়ের ম্যানেজিং কমিটি। ওই মামলায় তিনি এক মাস কারাবরণের পর জামিনে আসেন। এর আগে অনিয়মের অভিযোগে সাইফুল ইসলামকে প্রধান শিক্ষকের পদ থেকে সাময়িক বরখাস্ত করে চূড়ান্ত বরখাস্তের জন্য আপিল এন্ড আরবিটিশন বোর্ড কুমিল্লায় আবেদন করে বিদ্যালয়ের ব্যবস্থাপনা পরিষদ। অবশ্য ওই সময় তিনি নিজেও স্বেচ্ছায় পদত্যাগ পত্র জমা দেন।

২০২২ সালের ১৩ জানুয়ারি আপিল এন্ড আরবিটিশন বোর্ড সাইফ উদ্দিনকে প্রধান শিক্ষকের পদ থেকে চূড়ান্তভাবে বহিষ্কারের আদেশ দেন। কিন্তু সাইফ উদ্দিন ওই বছরের ২৫ জানুয়ারি আরবিটিশন বোর্ডের বহিষ্কার আদেশের বিরুদ্ধে উচ্চ আদালতে রিট পিটিশন করলে উচ্চ আদালত বহিষ্কার আদেশ স্থগিতের আদেশ দেন। ওই আদেশের ভিত্তিতে কুমিল্লা শিক্ষা বোর্ড প্রধান শিক্ষক পদে তাকে পুনর্বহালের আদেশ দেয়।

বিক্ষুব্ধ শিক্ষার্থীরা বলেন, সাবেক প্রধান শিক্ষক একজন মাদকাসক্ত। তাছাড়া তিনি বিদ্যালয়ের অর্থ লোপাট করেছেন। এমন শিক্ষকের কাছ থেকে শিক্ষার্থীরা কি শিক্ষাগ্রহণ করবে? এতে বিদ্যালয়ের উন্নয়নের চেয়ে অবনতি বেশি হবে। তাই অনতিবিলম্বে মাদকাসক্ত সাইফ উদ্দিনের পুনর্বহালের আদেশ প্রত্যাহারের দাবি জানান শিক্ষার্থীরা। অন্যথায় ক্লাস বর্জনসহ কঠোর আন্দোলনের হুঁশিয়ারি দেন তারা।
