Killing in crossfire: Case against 17 policemen including former OC of DB
A case has been filed by the family of the deceased in the name of 17 people including the former OC of the district intelligence wing Ashikur Rahman in the case of the killing of Rajan of Purohitpara in Mymensingh in the crossfire. On Sunday (October 20) afternoon, his father Harun Or Rashid (54) filed a complaint for the case in Mymensingh Sadar No. 1 Amli Court.
Taking cognizance of the complaint, the learned Senior Judicial Magistrate Roshan Jamil directed the Kotwali Model Police Station OC to investigate the incident and submit a report.
The other accused in the case are – Police Inspector Mokhleshur Rahman, SI Farooq Ahmed, SI Parimal Chandra Das, SI Akram Hossain, ASI Abdul Majeed, ASI Jinnat Hasan Manik, ASI Zakir Hossain, ASI Zillur Rahman, Constable Kausar Habib, Constable Golzar, Constable Sohrab Ali. , Constable Saiful, Constable Salim,Constable Rashedul, Constable Sanwar and Constable Zahirul Islam.Confirming the matter of the case, Mymensingh Court Police Inspector Mostachinur Rahman said that the plaintiff Harun Or Rashid filed a complaint in the court on Sunday. In this context, the court has ordered the OC of Kotwali Model Police Station to submit a report after investigating the incident.
It is mentioned in the complaint of the case that on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, a team of police led by former DB OC Ashikur Rahman raided Purohitpara and took the plaintiff’s son Rajan to the DB office for questioning. Later the plaintiff went to the DB office to see her son. But did not leave him even in two days. Then on the morning of May 24, when the plaintiff again went to the DB office to release his son, OC Ashikur Rahman demanded that he should pay Tk 10 lakh by night. The plaintiff tried to collect the money and failed.
Later, at 2:15 am, the policemen accompanied by OC Ashikur Rahman took Rajan to the house of Renu Begum in south west corner of Pukurpara, adjacent to the broken wall of Purohitpara railway, and fired several rounds in the chest and abdomen. He then fell to the ground and died. The police rescued him and took him to the hospital and handed over the body to the family after the autopsy.
Haroon Or Rashid, the plaintiff in the case, claimed that other policemen including OC Ashikur Rahman killed my son in crossfire because he could not pay Tk 10 lakh. I have filed a complaint in the court for exemplary punishment through the trial of those responsible in this incident
