Brisal Additional Superintendent of Police Alep Uddin has been arrested in a murder case of Jatrabari police station in the capital during the student-public movement. The court granted his two-day remand for interrogation.
Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court Magistrate Md. Sharifur Rahman gave this order on Thursday. Earlier, Jatrabari police applied to take him on five days remand.
According to the remand application, Barisal detective police (DB) arrested him from Barisal metropolitan area on Wednesday night on the orders of higher authorities.
According to the family, Additional Superintendent of Police Alep Uddin was picked up from the office of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Barisal Range of Police last Tuesday around two o’clock. Since then, the family has not been able to find him.
Alep Uddin’s wife Wafa Nusrat told Prothom Alo yesterday around 10:00 pm that when Alep Uddin was picked up at noon the previous day (Tuesday), he called his wife and told her that Barisal DB had picked him up. According to him, there is no case against Alep Uddin. But why he was taken away, where he was kept, they do not know anything about it. Already more than 24 hours have passed, now the whole family is worried
