Assistant primary teachers’ press briefing on one-point demand. Extra demand for removal of deputy director
The speakers said in a press conference organized at Zahur Hossain Chowdhury Hall of Jatiya Press Club on Friday (September 27).
In a written statement, National Primary Assistant Teachers Foundation President Shahinur Akhtar said that the last national pay scale was announced in 2015. Primary teachers have also been discriminated against there. In these 10 years, the rate at which the price of goods has increased, the primary teachers are disoriented to bear the market price. During the tenure of the previous dictatorial government, the salary hike was promised, but it was not implemented at all.
The speakers also said that in the pay scale of 2015, pay was fixed in 20 grades, with a maximum grade gap of Rs 800 from 20th to 11th grade. But the gap between tenth and first grade has been kept up to a maximum of 12 thousand taka. As a result, there was no improvement in the quality of life of 13th grade assistant teachers and 11th grade head teachers.
The promotion to the post of Headmaster, which has been closed since 2009, has not yet seen the light of day. Primary teachers have to join as assistant teachers and retire in the same post. Apart from that, departmental promotion of head teachers has also been blocked.
The speaker also said that the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education has proposed to provide 12th grade for assistant teachers, 11th grade for assistant head teachers and 10th grade for head teachers. Rejecting this proposal on behalf of the primary teacher coordination council, I am demanding 10th grade and 100% departmental promotion for the entry post of assistant teacher.
Along with this, if the teachers of Dhaka Division did not accept the objectionable proposal by the Divisional Deputy Director Mirza Mohammad Hasan Khosru, demanding money, various punishments or threats of transfer, the President of the Central Committee of Bangladops Primary Teachers Association, Asma Khanom, the Divisional Deputy Director of Dhaka Division, on their behalfDemanded resignation. At this time, a separate three-day program was announced from the press conference.
