Actress Shami Kaiser arrested

The police informed about the arrest of actress Shami Kaiser from Uttara in the capital. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Uttara West Police Station, Hafizur Rahman, said that he was arrested from a house in Sector 4 of Uttara at around one o’clock in the morning on Tuesday.

Police officer Hafizur Rahman told The Guardian that a case of attempted murder was filed against Shami Kaiser at the Uttara Purba police station in connection with the injury of one person during the student-crowd movement. He has been arrested in that case. He will be handed over to Uttara Purva police station.

After Sheikh Hasina resigned and left for India on August 5 in the face of the student uprising, her government ministers and party leaders as well as many people from different classes and professions are being arrested. Shami Kaiser was arrested last.

অভিনেত্রী শমী কায়সার গ্রেপ্তার

রাজধানীর উত্তরা থেকে অভিনেত্রী শমী কায়সারকে গ্রেপ্তারের কথা জানিয়েছে পুলিশ। গতকাল মঙ্গলবার দিবাগত রাত একটার দিকে উত্তরার ৪ নম্বর সেক্টরের একটি বাসা থেকে তাঁকে গ্রেপ্তার করা হয় বলে জানিয়েছেন উত্তরা পশ্চিম থানার ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা (ওসি) হাফিজুর রহমান।

পুলিশ কর্মকর্তা হাফিজুর রহমান দি গার্ডিয়ানকে বলেন, ছাত্র-জনতার আন্দোলনের সময় একজন আহত হওয়ার ঘটনায় উত্তরা পূর্ব থানায় শমী কায়সারের বিরুদ্ধে হত্যাচেষ্টা মামলা হয়েছিল। সেই মামলায় তাঁকে গ্রেপ্তার করা হয়েছে। তাঁকে উত্তরা পূর্ব থানায় হস্তান্তর করা হবে।

ছাত্র-জনতার অভ্যুত্থানের মুখে শেখ হাসিনা ৫ আগস্ট পদত্যাগ করে ভারতে চলে যাওয়ার পর তাঁর সরকারের মন্ত্রী ও দলের নেতাদের পাশাপাশি বিভিন্ন শ্রেণি-পেশার অনেক ব্যক্তিকে গ্রেপ্তার করা হচ্ছে। সর্বশেষ শমী কায়সারকে গ্রেপ্তার করা হলো।

তবে অভিনয় শিল্পিদের গ্রেফতার নিয়ে কিছুটা মৌনক্ষোভ প্রকাশ করছেন শিল্পিরা।
