……. 9-point demand for primary education -People’s Rights Council
A meeting of the delegation of the People’s Rights Council with Bidhan Ranjan Roy, Advisor to the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, was held at the Bangladesh Secretariat today at 4 pm and the 9-fold proposal was handed over.
The delegation led by member secretary of Public Rights Council Farooq Hasan was attended by joint member secretary Tarek Rahman, member principal Noore Alam and convenor of student rights council Molla Rahmatullah.
Their 9-point recommendations are:
1. All children of the country should be made to study the primary curriculum prescribed by the state. The curriculum will be determined based on the opinion of the citizens of all religions, castes and creeds living in the state.
2. “Socialization and dignity” program should be introduced in all primary educational institutions of the country for the social, mental and moral development of children.
3. At the end of primary 65% of students cannot read Bengali reading, qualified teachers should be appointed on the basis of merit excluding the unqualified teachers who are appointed through quota and question marks through quality check.
4. Any word or sentence that denigrates any religion or caste cannot be at any stage of the education system (public education) of Bangladesh.
5. All educational institutions (schools-colleges-madrasas) under MPO should be nationalized to ensure education protection.
6. Officials seeking employment in local public representatives and local administration should have a certificate of study in a government educational institution under their jurisdiction.
7. In remote areas of Chittagong Hill Tracts, to ensure primary education of all nationalities, residential facilities should be provided for teachers adjacent to institutions.
8. There is a conspiracy to make the latest recruitment of primary teachers based on quota, according to the court judgment, 93% merit based recruitment should be ensured.
9. Government teachers should stop private coaching business, primary teachers who pass the quality check examination should be upgraded in grade and salary should be increased.
